Manager Feedback Training (Updated: November 2025)
Core Frameworks
- SBI (Situation-Behavior-Impact): For real-time feedback on specific behaviors. Structure: Describe specific situation, explain observed behavior, share the impact. Example: "In yesterday's client meeting (Situation), when you interrupted the client twice (Behavior), it helped us avoid a major misunderstanding (Impact)."
- COIN (Context-Observation-Impact-Next Steps): For performance discussions and development conversations. Structure: Set context, share specific observations, discuss impact, agree on next steps. Example: "I wanted to discuss your project management approach (Context). The last three updates were 2-3 days late (Observation). This has caused delays in planning (Impact). What support do you need? (Next Steps)"
- GROW (Goal-Reality-Options-Will): For coaching conversations and problem-solving. Structure: Define goal, explore current reality, discuss options, commit to actions
